Who We Are

Dan's Excavating Service, Inc. is a family-owned and operated business founded in 1997. Our goal is to be a professional, problem-solving firm that completes construction projects with the highest standards of materials and proficiency to exceed customer expectations.

Dan Tellkamp

Founder + CEO

Meet Dan, founder of the “Professional Digg Force”. In 1997, Dan decided he wanted to start his own business in his hometown of Grant, MI. Over twenty years later, he still loves what he does. His background in the construction & farm industry started at the early age of ten when he started work on a local dairy farm. That early beginning was the start of a life long passion for dirt, crops, cows, and big equipment that roll black smoke!

Some of Dan’s hobbies are taking care of his cows, snowmobiling, being involved with his church and spending time with his five children (many of whom are involved with the family business) and wife of 30+ years, Jackie. If you see Dan rolling down the road, be sure to wave or honk on your way by!

Spencer Tellkamp

Project Manager + COO

Spencer has grown up working with his dad, Dan. After high school, Spencer attended Pensacola Christian College & Muskegon Community College (MCC). While studying business at MCC, he interned at Newaygo Insurance Agency, which turned into a full time position. In 2017, Spencer decided to go back to work with his dad and the family business. He is currently a project manager with long term aspirations for the company.

Spencer and his wife, India, along with their dog Rogue, enjoy working with their cattle farm and managing their apple orchard!

Patti Postma

Office Manager

Patti joined the professional dig force almost a decade ago. As an office manager, she takes care of billing, delivery schedules, customer calls...the list goes on!

Patti enjoys spending time with her husband, Bob, their 4 children, and spunky group of grandchildren. She loves Tigers baseball and the country music band, Alabama.
