Dan's Excavating Service, Inc. is a family-owned and operated business founded in 1997. Our goal is to be a professional, problem-solving firm that completes construction projects with the highest standards of materials and proficiency to exceed customer expectations.
Spencer Tellkamp
Chief Executive Officer
Spencer has grown up working with his dad in the excavating business, and the passion only grew after graduating from high school. He attended Pensacola Christian College & Muskegon Community College (MCC) after graduation. While studying business at MCC, he interned at Newaygo Insurance Agency, which turned into a full time position. In 2017, Spencer decided to go back to work with his dad and the family business, and in 2021, Spencer and his wife, India, purchased Dan's Excavating, and continue to build upon Dan's success. Beyond his passion for his work and his clients, Spencer and his wife, along with their dogs Rogue and Pepper, enjoy working with the family cattle farm and managing their apple orchard!

Senior Project Manager
Meet Dan, founder of the “Professional Digg Force”. In 1997, Dan decided he wanted to start his own business in his hometown of Grant, MI. Over twenty five years later, he still loves what he does. His background in the construction & farm industry started at the early age of ten when he started work on a local dairy farm. That early beginning was the start of a life long passion for dirt, crops, cows, and big equipment that roll black smoke!
Some of Dan’s hobbies are taking care of his cows, snowmobiling, being involved with his church and spending time with his five children (many of whom are involved with the family business) and wife of 30+ years, Jackie. If you see Dan rolling down the road, be sure to wave or honk on your way by!
Kaila Zobel
Office Manager
Kaila became the Office Manager of Dan’s Excavating Service in 2021. She holds a Bachelor’s degree from Dordt University where she studied Business Administration and Human Resources. Kaila joined the Professional Dig Force with years of management experience in both commercial real estate and food service – including an owner/operator role for the locally owned Pizza Ranch franchises. Kaila grew up in Muskegon and is glad to call West Michigan home. She and her husband Drew moved from Holland to Bailey for her role with the Dig Force. She enjoys the small town feel and living “just down the road” from our office. Kaila and Drew enjoy playing cards, board games, and spending time with friends & family.
